Another 3 points made their way back to Portgower Place on Saturday when the rampant third team made it 5 from 5 at Bangholm Recreation Ground. A hat-trick from newly capped international Greg Browne and Craig Lamb gave the Stags some breathing space after a well controlled by slightly nervy first half which ended 2-1 to the visitors.
Lamb kicked the scoring off with a well taken re-bound early in the first 35 minutes to reward Grange for their hard work controlling the game. A small mistake at the back allowed WIT to equalise but their ambitions of “getting another before half time” were quashed when Browne began his rout before the whistle could be blown. The second half saw a fit and well organised Grange slowly take a waning WIT team apart with 2 stunning goals. The first coming from an excellent ball into the D from Ed DuBoulay, taking the slightest touch off Browne’s stick to send the ball flying high into the top right of the goal. The second hit the backboard after good work down the left flank, followed by numerous one-touch passes, found Browne at the back post to convert to complete his trio triumph.
Fine of the game: Cairns Harrison for tackling his own player.
Next game: (Reserve Cup) Saturday 22nd October vs Hillhead 4th XI (H @ St Georges)
