Scorer: Rayat
Despite the constant mizzle, the 6s actually managed to field a side that featured 13 players to take on a (mainly) youthful Inverleith side.
The pattern of recent games continued, as Grange had the majority of the ball but failed to turn possession into goals. The short corner routine ran through most of the avialble variations in the first half but was thworted each time by a combination of good work from the Inverleith defence and some good saves by their goalie. Inverleith looked more dangerous on the counter attack than either of this year's previous oppositions. A "bad bounce" allowed one of their young stikers to get past last man Bunker and bear down on the grange goal, however his attempted slip past the outcoming goalie ended up just wide. Grange did manage to get the ball in the Inverleith net twice but both times play was called back by the umpire's whistle. Nil all at half time.
The second half was less dominated by Grange as Inverleith made a tactical switch that gave them more purchase in the midfield. However chances (such that there were) were more heavily in favour of the notionally away team. Finally, having tried all the short corner variations that they'd practiced, Grange tried one that they hadn't; Simmi's (drag?) flick flying into the bottom corner for the only goal of the game. Inverleith nearly got an equaliser right at the death but the attempted flick was diverted high over the bar by a Grange runner and the points were in the bag.
3 games, three wins, not bad. Thanks to David for turning out on a dreich day to umpire.
